Associação Beneficente Vivenda da Criança
In 1989, the institution began its activities as a shelter for boys in socially at-risk situations. With time, it grew and, today, offers opportunities for children and adults to develop as people, citizens, and future professionals. In order to best assist the community, Vivenda is divided into four main projects, the flagship projects:
PROJECTS
- Centro da Criança e do Adolescente - CCA ("Center for Children and Teenagers"): Over 180 at-risk or socially excluded children and teenagers spend their mornings and afternoons at Vivenda. Here, they interact with friends, practice sports, and learn valuable lessons for their personal, cultural, and communal growth. Besides these activities that complement formal education in schools, these kids have the right to free breakfast, lunch, and afternoon snacks Monday through Friday at the institution;
- Serviço de Assistência Social à Família - SASF ("Social Work Assistance for Families"): The goal is to strengthen the protective role of 1,000 (one thousand) families, distributed among 18 neighborhoods, preventing aggravations that could provoke the breaking of family and social ties. Another goal is to work with the elderly and people with disabilities through social protection in their homes, given the need to prevent confinement and isolation;
- Centro de Desenvolvimento Social e Produtivo (CEDESP) Irmã Yvone Venditti ("Center for Social and Productive Development Sister Yvone Venditti"): The main goal is to insert the community from the extreme south and periphery areas of São Paulo into the job market. The project, named after Vivenda's founder, offers courses that allow 200 students to expand their cultural universe, improve their self-esteem, and especially become professionals and develop entrepreneurship in their communities. The courses offered include beauty school, job market preparation, business administration, bread making, and computer skills classes;
- Projeto Oportunidades ("Opportunities Project"): Young Apprentice Law 10.097/2000: The mission is to promote social integration and education to vulnerable populations through activities that prepare and awaken the potential in children, teenagers, and adults for life and the job market. The institution prepares youth between the ages of 14 and 24 to work in companies, following Brazilian law number 10.097/2000.
